Where Has the Time Gone!?!

Hi.  Remember us? It’s been two years, but we’re still here.  A lot has happened in those two years.  Our little one is a teenager.  {Boy is she ever a teenager.  Pray for us.}  Ruby and Angel have both left us.  Our little cottage is coming along but still isn’t complete.  One thing has remained the same.  Life at the Hill House is always an adventure.

When we last met {June of 2015} we were planning a mini-vacation to Jacksonville, St. Augustine, and Daytona Beach, Florida for Fourth of July weekend.

Days 6493 through 6497 in the Life

We started this mini-vacation in Jacksonville, Florida.  There’s not a whole lot for a small family to do in Jacksonville except visit the beach, but who wants to do that!?! {Just kidding, we live near a beach, so it gets a little boring.} The Jacksonville Zoo was amazing! It may be the best zoo we’ve seen.

If you have never been to St. Augustine, Florida, you simply MUST go {especially if you’re Catholic}.  There is everything from the Mission of Nombre de Dios to The Fountain of Youth.  Hundreds of years of history in America’s oldest, continually populated city.

We only spent one day in St. Augustine, but it was a beautiful and fun day.  We visited the the Old Jail Museum {where we served time as horse thieves}, Castillo de San Marcos, the Colonial Quarter, St. Augustine Pirate & Treasure Museum, and the Mission of Nombre de Dios and Shrine to Our Lady of le Leche.  We walked down St. George Street to the Cathedral Basillica of St. Augustine which was closed for a wedding. {BOOO and yay for the happy couple!}

Finally we ended our mini-vacay with a road trip down to Daytona Beach, Florida, for the Subway Firecraker 250.  I am not personally a NASCAR fan, but this was quite a fun day! We hid from an afternoon summer squall which delayed the start of the race, but when it finally started, it wasn’t as loud as I thought.  I was pleasantly surprised by the whole experience.

And of course the journey home was slow-moving and wet.  There’s nothing quite like the south!
