Mini-Vacay

Looks like we’ll be able to squeeze in a family mini-vacation this summer! Our destination? Jacksonville and St. Augustine, Florida. We’re excited!

There doesn’t appear to be a lot of family things to do in Jacksonville. The Zoo. Fort Caroline. The beach {we can stay home for that.} But just a short car ride away is St. Augustine. The oldest city in America. The first Catholic settlement. Living museums. Ghost train tours. Ripley’s Believe It or Not. Pirate ships. The list goes on and on.

And then, of course, Daytona for the Fourth of July. We’ve never been to a race, but since we will be driving home on Sunday before the Coca-Cola 400, we decided to see the Subway Firecracker 250 which is NASCAR XFINITY regulars facing off against Sprint Cup Series stars. {Hope someone understands all that racing jargon. It’s Greek to me!} Nonetheless, a good time for the Hills of Sims Mill Pond.

Day 6305 in the Life

Christmas Day, 2014

As we celebrate Christmas we are reminded how truly blessed we are. Not just because we were able to provide the presents the kiddo was expecting. {Let’s face it. Kids expect presents at Christmas. No matter if they understand the meaning of Christmas or not.} We are happy in our little cottage. We are healthy. We have an amazing family. And we are surrounded by love.

May your Christmas season be filled with love and many blessings.

Carving the Pumpkin

Troy and Alli picked out our pumpkin for carving this year. They got the biggest one they could find . . . that wasn’t rotten. Troy thinks it weighed almost 40 pounds. It was quite large.

Troy quickly found out just how big the pumpkin was when he started gutting it.

The walls were at least two inches think in some places.

Gross, Troy.

Alli chose the designs. This pumpkin was big enough for two patterns.
