Dewberries Again!?!

Yes, dewberries again. I have struggled with what to do with the big, empty space above my corner sink. Now that my lovely shelving is installed the big, empty space seemed bigger! There are so many things that I would like to do in the kitchen, but nothing stuck out for this space. Then it occurred to me. The dewberries. The dewberries that I’m so excited to pick I almost cannot wait for them to ripen. My beloved dewberries.

First I thought I would just print one large photograph of a ripened dewberry cluster. But I chose three photographs I have taken over the last month of my dewberry vines in different stages of growth. I had 11×14 prints made on mat-board backing and a UV coating. Instead of framing the prints {I’m really not into picture frames. I find them bulky and annoying.} I nailed them directly to the wall. Yes, I nailed them directly to the wall through the photographs and colored the nail head with a black marker to hide the nail. Now, I love this wall. {The hubby is not so sure about the frame-less prints.}

One Step Closer

On Day 6,415 in the Life we became one step closer to having at least one room completed in our little Home Sweet Home on Sims Mill Pond. The handy hubby installed the bathroom cabinet {which we will paint to match the kitchen cabinets}, counter-top and shelves. It only took three tries to find a faucet that didn’t leak. We’ve never been so excited to brush our teeth. {Even the kiddo is excited.} And I can see the top of my head in the mirror again.

A Place for Plates

Finally! After living in our little cottage for 8 months, we now have a place for our plates {. . . and bowls, and glasses, and well . . . whatever else I decide}. The handy hubby installed the open shelving this weekend. They’re not quite done. I still have some touch up painting to do, but they are beautiful and I couldn’t be happier with them.

The Golden Hour

Ahh, the Golden Hour. My favorite time of day. The hour after the sun rises {when we’re normally driving to school and work} and the hour before the sun sets, when the earth has that beautiful, golden glow. That time when lighting is magically perfect and photography is easy and relaxing {and without all the extra outside expectations of perfection}. The time when I love photography again.

So during the evening golden hour of day 6401 in the life, we grabbed the camera and headed outdoors.  This is what we found.

Tractor

This tractor belonged to Troy’s father. It’s old, but we love it. And it gets the job done.

Tractor2

Just can’t get enough of this tractor.

This is what Life on Sims Mill Pond is all about.

With a front yard like this, who wants to be inside? This is what Life on Sims Mill Pond is all about.

And our dewberries.
